Context

Lower and Forest Guinea’s rural communities have long depended on fragmented road infrastructure that becomes impassable during the rainy season. The Rural Roads Project, funded by AFD and the Ministry of Agriculture, set out to rehabilitate over 600 km of trunk and feeder routes plus ~180 m of mixed bridges.

Our role

Nimba’s engineering team supervised the technical assessments, design reviews, and quality control across the multi-year program. Senior advisor Alioune Touré has coordinated the works since 2017.

Outcomes

  • 600+ km of rural roads brought into all-season serviceability
  • 180 m of mixed bridges constructed across Lower and Forest Guinea
  • Improved year-round access for agricultural and fishing communities

What we’d do differently

To be written by the project lead.
